This week's specialty: Gradient map + Abstraction
The original image
Playing with gradient map ...and totally abstracted image!
Well... I'd really like to ask you to reconsider your gradient colours. They are just the primary colours and frankly not of much emotional impact. Plus the fact that the sky just so happens to turn out blue, the grass in front of him green... it's pretty cliche and not all that interesting. When we did the exercise in class, i asked you to stick to analogous colours (close to each other on the colour wheel) in either hot or cold colours - because frankly, you get a more sophisticated, more subtle effect from it. I'm glad to see you taking chances and I certainly don't want to discourage you...but I'd really like to see you try this again with a gradient that didn't try to approximate reality.
